Ms. Valentina Blackman

Valentina holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL B) (1986) with upper second-class honours and a Master of Laws (LL M) (1995) from the University of the West Indies. She also holds the Legal Education Certificate (LEC) (1988) from the Hugh Wooding Law School, Trinidad & Tobago and a Diploma in Ocean Law & Policy (1996) from the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law and Policy in association with the University of Virginia School of Law. In October 1988 she was called to the Barbados Bar.

Prior to joining ICBL, she served as Principal Crown Counsel in the Attorney General Chambers of Barbados for twelve years and worked in private practice. Valentina is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (2006) of Canada. She has also attended and received two Certificates following her participation in the Alternate Dispute Resolution and the Advanced Alternate Dispute Resolution workshops co-sponsored by Stitt Feld Handy Group and the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law (Canada).
