The Royal Barbados Police Force today received a “Thank You” gift from ICBL in the form of six CCTV Cameras, just in time for the Crop Over Festival.
Chief Operating Officer, Oliver Jordan, formally handed over the funds for the cameras to Commissioner Tyrone Griffith at Police headquarters.
In his remarks, Jordan said: “Every day the men and women of the Police Force are tasked with the responsibility of protecting the residents and visitors of Barbados. It is not an easy job, especially in today’s environment, where crime fighting has become far more complex. It is for that reason that we at ICBL believe that the private sector should step up and play our part to aid the Police Force in the fight against crime in our country, wherever possible.”
Commissioner Griffith thanked ICBL for their generous donation and reiterated the increasing difficulty of policing. “It has become far more necessary to use technology in our crime-solving endeavours and the donation from ICBL will go a long way in assisting us to be more efficient and successful in our law enforcement efforts”, he said.
The donated cameras, which will be placed in the city, are top of the line quality, with three megapixels. They are also equipped with infrared vision and the ability to pan, tilt and zoom.
